Preview: North Carolina Courage vs Washington Spirit

The Washington Spirit look to bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 loss against the Chicago Red Stars this Saturday at Audi Field vs the North Carolina Courage. After losing for the first time since a disappointing performance and 2-0 loss against Racing Louisville, the Spirit have not drawn an easy hand to get back to winning ways.

Preview: Washington Spirit vs Chicago Red Stars

The Spirit, currently on 8 points in the 3rd place, will travel to Bridgeview on Saturday night (on Twitch) to take on the Red Stars, who have 7 points and are in 6th place (for whatever that’s worth 5 games into the season).

Well, that didn’t go as planned! After a changed location, a soft red card for their captain, and what could be charitably called…unpredictable refereeing, the Washington Spirit snuck out of BBVA Stadium with all three points and their first win of the season.

An evenly matched game in Orlando ended in the most logical way possible, with the Spirit taking the lead late in the 77th minute via an Ashley Hatch header and conceding the equalizer via Alex Morgan shortly after in the 84th minute with the Spirit and Coach Richie Burke both feeling like it was 2 points lost rather than one point earned.
