DC United are back in…action? Can we call it action after Wednesdays debacle? I’m not sure we can. Lets start over.

The black-and-red will take the field Sunday night against the Revolution in attempt to find themselves. A months worth of defensive stands was followed by what was by far the least ambitious outing for a team that has struggled to find their feet. But thats enough about that game, lets see what lies ahead.

The good news: DC newcomer Yordy Reyna is set to be available for selection, and assuming he’s able to walk, should make it into the starting lineup. Reyna has the potential to bring the kind of offensive creativity this team had been completely lacking in.

The bad news: not much else is changing. Flores is still out recovering from face surgery (hurts just to say that), Russell Canouse will be serving a red card suspension. Other injuries are longer term recovery plans.

There are a few things to stoke the faint embers of hope still smoldering in our hearts. Could Ben’s comments on the past performance light a fire this team desperately needs? Could we start a more youthful lineup on order to change things up? Will Yordy bring the spark that lights our fire? We can only wish that one of these scenarios plays out.

Our competition this weekend is no slouch. The Revs are coming off a 3-1 win over mid-table Montreal where they dominated, and will be hunting for 3 more points against an out-of-form DC. They put up 20 shots in the last game, and will be looking to test DC’s less than spectacular defense.

Will the boys stand strong at the back? Will the offense be invigorated? Or will we see another abhorrent performance from a team that can’t afford any?

We will be hoping for the best. Vamos!
